Casters are offset. Theoretically, item could be stacked, although not easily, because of weight (about 38 lbs incl. glass) and unwieldiness.

[Above] Construction detail:  Glass is set within steel framework, which in turn, is supported by three elements: 1) lugs; 2) diagonal bar; 3) 1/4" hardboard.

[Above] Because glass ultimately rests on opaque surface of 1/4" hardboard, pieces of colored material (paper) can be sandwiched between the glass and hardboard to effectively 'tint' the glass to a purposeful hue or value to aid in mixing colors. In the image above three 'tints' are seen beneath the glass: 1) off-white (similar to a lead-white primed canvas); 40% gray; 10% gray.
